jirc software package provides an IRC to Jabber bridge bot, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install jirc
jirc is installed in your system.
Make ensure the jirc package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep jirc *
You will get with jirc package name, version, architecture and description in a table
